Art And Pat Goforth Elementary School9

My children are new students to this school so I can not give as much of an informative review as a native Goforth family can. However I can attest to our experience as new comers. Mid-year (January 2013) my children (1st and 3rd Graders) made the transfer as new students to Goforth so they have been there for approx. six months or so and will be returning this year as well. From the beginning with phone conversations about our transition, Goforth staff was EXCELLENT in answering questions & guiding us through the process. In person, they were slightly less friendly , but they were still courteous and assisted us. The Teacher that my daughter had was less than impressive. She didn't seem to 'get' that my daughter was new and required extra guidance. My daughter felt 'lost' a lot. There was also another issue with this Teacher that did not sit well with me. When meeting with the Principle to address some concerns she was VERY attentive and understanding to my position, and I left feeling better. All interactions with the Principle were OUTSTANDING! My sons 2nd Grade Teacher was probably above 'average', and welcomed my son and worked with him well.

My son is in 5th grade . This school is ok.He had problem with one teacher Miss Beans as she yells, speak loud but the problem never fixed and she never stopped. They are more loyal to teachers than kids.Be careful all parents if your child is telling you teacher is not good take action don't just procrastinate like us.

I love, love, love this school. My oldest daughter went to 3rd - 5th grade here and my youngest has been here for K - 4th so far. I love the freedom of religion the children and teachers may express. It is a lovely learning environment. This is a special school.

My daughter is finishing first grade this year. She has been academically ahead of her peers since she started Kinder & I don't feel like her teachers have ever given her extension activities. They either feel like she already knows it, so they overlook her, or they use her as a peer tutor, & let her guide her own learning. No 7 year old, no matter how mature, can be the guide of their own curriculum.

Goforth has some extra opportunities, but only for a very small segment of the school . Tried to encourage good behavior by awarding Good Character Award(called Goforth Treasure), a yard sign to be place in the child's yard, but sign didn't indicate Good Character traits, just 'I'm a Goforth Treasure'. There are awards for art and science fair(not actively encouraged), but other awards are only given at the end of the school year. Another child attended a school that had a variety of awards recognizing achievement and including many students based on their interests/strengths and learning ability. Culture here is to only recognize the top students and not recognize each student for improvement. Staff labels kids.

Wonderful school. My daughter is on her 4th year here and my son will be starting his first year. They are very strict on security and run the office very tight. Teachers are great. Staff is very nice and accomodating. Every time I have visite the school it has been clean and kept in orderly fashion! Good Job!

Great job Goforth staff. My son will be a 2nd grader this year and I could not be happier. The environment is very warm, loving and my son is always welcomed with a smile as he enters the school. Academically my son has excelled beyond my expectations. He loves the principal and had a wonderful 1st grade teacher. I am thrilled about 2nd grade and look forward to a successful and happy year for my 2nd grader. Keep up the good work Goforth!!!!

This is the best school my son has gone too! If it wasn't for his 1st grade teacher giving him special attention and having him tested for disabilities he would have fallen through the cracks. Other teachers and eye doctors had said he was blind in one eye but all along he had a Learning Disability and thanks to that Special Teacher and the other people envolved he is getting the help he needed. I feel they stay on top of his progress and keep me informed all the time. I really appreciate all things that they are doing for my son. I am so glad that we moved into this School District and he is able to go to this wonderful school!
